Please explain the aspects of the trip which make it eligible for Ghar Parau funding.

Detailed description of objectives:

Give a more detailed account of the purpose of the trip, including any particular known caves you intend to visit, specific areas where you will explore for new cave, and scientific experiments you will attempt.

Continue the exploration of 48H-I12-96 "Shitty Backdoor", a cave close to Qikeng, which originally through it would drop into, but after a tight entrance series is heading away from Qikeng and has the potential to yield some big pitches before dropping into the main Tianxing Dongxue Xitong system below. The cave was last pushed in 2007 to a depth of 75m where it has been left.

48H-I12-109 Bamboo cave was originally explored in 2004 where the cave was pushed to a down stream sump. A number of good leads were left particularly in the upstream direction, and also avens towards the downstream end, which may lead to now know fossil levels discovered in the other areas of the Tianxing Dongxue Xitong system.

Surface recces will be carried out on known entrances in the Tian Xing area, with a view of finding more exciting leads within the Tian Xing area.
Previous work in this area:

Give details of any previous work in this area by your own and other teams. Include references to reports and articles published on the area, and the names of any local cavers or academics with whom you have discussed the Expedition.

Tian Xing has been visited many times by cavers over the last 10 or so years and the main system, known as Tianxing Dongxue Xitong, has been pushed to over 48 km with 9 entrances. It is the third longest cave in China and has the potential for much more.
