Detailed description of objectives:

Give a more detailed account of the purpose of the trip, including any particular known caves you intend to visit, specific areas where you will explore for new cave, and scientific experiments you will attempt.

Working from bases at Park HQ and Camp 1 we intend to look for continuations from Sarawak Chamber and in the entrance series of Lubang Nasib Bagus; we will also undertake searches for new entrances in the southern end of G.Api and the Deer Cave massif, including continuing the exploration of a number of outstanding leads from the spring 2011 expedition. Gavin Newman intends to make a cavers' film based on the original exploration of Sarawak Chamber, capitalising on the presence of the 3 original explorers, together in Mulu for the first time since 1984. Our scientific research programme will involve studies of bell pits (Julia James), the collection of additional quartz samples from various locations in Clearwater for cosmogenic isotope dating and the collection of additional speleothem samples for Uranium/Lead (U/Pb) dating (Smart and Smith); Jason Lin will conduct sedimentology studies in Lagan's Cave.
