Brief Expedition objectives:

List a short summary of the main Expedition objectives.

(i) Continuation of the exploration and survey of the cave PT4, from the point reached in 2010. (ii) Further exploration of nearby caves, discovered in 2010. (iii) Continuing to explore the surrounding area.
How can the GPF support your Expedition?:

Please explain the aspects of the trip which make it eligible for Ghar Parau funding.

The expedition intends to invite SOB to join us, as in 2010, and to continue to involve local cavers in Kotor, Montenegro. The involvement of local cavers has proved invaluable in assisting with local inhabitants and goverment officials. We are maintaining contact with the Slovenian club JK Krka, but so far they have said they are unable to join us.
Detailed description of objectives:

Give a more detailed account of the purpose of the trip, including any particular known caves you intend to visit, specific areas where you will explore for new cave, and scientific experiments you will attempt.

In 2010 a sump was reached at a depth of 435m in the principal objective, PT4. We intend to attempt to dive this sump, as well as look for a way round it, as the cave still draughts strongly close to the current end. In addition, several open leads in the cave will be explored. Any discoveries will be surveyed and a photographic record made. Other promising finds were made in 2010, and these will also be explored.
Previous work in this area:

Give details of any previous work in this area by your own and other teams. Include references to reports and articles published on the area, and the names of any local cavers or academics with whom you have discussed the Expedition.

The cave PT4 was originally found in 1999 by the Belgrade caving club SOB. Further exploration by SOB in 2000 and 2004, and British expeditions in 2009 and 2010, have brought the exploration of PT4 to its current state. A Slovenian caving club, JK Krka, has also been involved in exploring this cave.
