Brief Expedition objectives: List a short summary of the main Expedition objectives.

How can the GPF support your Expedition?: Please explain the aspects of the trip which make it eligible for Ghar Parau funding.
This expedition is under the auspices of the China Caves project which was established in the 1980s. Members of this group, with additional foreign members, have routinely visited China to establish a very good relationship with Guilin Karst Institute and have explored and surveyed many new systems in Guangxi, Hubei and Guizhou. The group has always published their work which has included exploration and scientific research that is available on the BCRA publications list.
Detailed description of objectives: Give a more detailed account of the purpose of the trip, including any particular known caves you intend to visit, specific areas where you will explore for new cave, and scientific experiments you will attempt.
1. Survey caves in the area, advising Chinese of the possibility of tourist potential but at the same time raising the issue of protection and conservation 2. Making a record of the expedition by taking photographs and working with Chinese to produce film footage 3. Conduct scientific research including geological investigation of areas, cave fauna and some water chemistry
Previous work in this area: Give details of any previous work in this area by your own and other teams. Include references to reports and articles published on the area,
and the names of any local cavers or academics with whom you have discussed the Expedition.
Although this area is relatively accessible from Guilin, there are a number of mountain ranges in Mulun, Yizhou and Loucheng that have received no attention regarding exploration in the past.
