Brief Expedition objectives:

List a short summary of the main Expedition objectives.

Continue climbing the 210m aven so far bolted up, in Sahara, (the far west of the Hirlatz)
How can the GPF support your Expedition?:

Please explain the aspects of the trip which make it eligible for Ghar Parau funding.

Detailed description of objectives:

Give a more detailed account of the purpose of the trip, including any particular known caves you intend to visit, specific areas where you will explore for new cave, and scientific experiments you will attempt.

Over the last two years the team has bolted up a 210m aven. The aim of the expedition is to continue bolting this aven. The team are very encouraged as it seemed the top of the aven was opening out and hopefully will yield some horizontal passage being now at a good elevation for fossil horizontal passage. Sahara is in the far west of the Hirlatz and takes a full days caving with heavy packs to get there. It is planned to do another 6 night camp there to finish the aven and hopefully explore horizontal passage!! Two of the members of the trip will do one or two carry trips to stage gear in the cave prior to the main camp to aid the expedition
Previous work in this area:

Give details of any previous work in this area by your own and other teams. Include references to reports and articles published on the area, and the names of any local cavers or academics with whom you have discussed the Expedition.

I have done numberous trip into the extremities of the Hirlatz, to both the East and the West. Myself and Rich Hudson have been working on this climb for the last two years.
