List a short summary of the main Expedition objectives.
Further Exploration and documentation of the drainage system in the Tian Xing area. Which now stands at 1020m deep and 35,480m long with seven entrances, making it the fourth longest in China and the first in the country to pass 1000m in depth. Please explain the aspects of the trip which make it eligible for Ghar Parau funding.
Information about the previous expeditions to Tian Xing can be found on the Hong Mei Gui website. www.hongmeigui.net HMG need to purchase some more rigging gear namely rope, hangers and maillions. Cost for this have been spread over several expeditions, but the current HMG rope much is close to requirement. During last years expeditions, the several of the bouyancy aids were found to be somewhat difficient for exploration of fast moving water. It is proposed to buy 4 new ones that will fit the purpose Approx £50 each. Additional grant funding for these purchases would be greatly appreciated.Give a more detailed account of the purpose of the trip, including any particular known caves you intend to visit, specific areas where you will explore for new cave, and scientific experiments you will attempt.
1) Main objective is rig KengDangDang found on a previous expedition and pushed to a tight meander at 165m. The caves lies in an very interesting area and will hopefully drop in upstream of the upstream sump in Lan Mu Shu and yield more of the horizontal development there. 2) To re-rig Bamboo Cave and explore the cave downstream towards KengDangDang. This will involve setting up a camp near the far end to aid exploration. 3) To continue exploration of Xiaoguchiwan Dong, extended last year with leads left. 4) Possible fun project of rigging the top section of Miao Keng, and attempt to bolt upwards again to attempt the deepest underground shaft in the world. 5) If permission has been granted to continue protecting around the area.Give details of any previous work in this area by your own and other teams. Include references to reports and articles published on the area, and the names of any local cavers or academics with whom you have discussed the Expedition.
